Matthew 7:24-25

Matthew 7:24-25 - Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

If Jesus looked at your life who would He compare you to? Are you like the wise man or the foolish man? Everyone builds their life on something. There is a foundation of beliefs and actions.

Some believe in themselves. Others believe in money or material possessions. These are a just a few of the idols that people put their trust into, there are many more. In the end though these will all fail.

When the storms of life come none of these things will help you get through. There is only one foundation that can stand through every storm. That foundation is Jesus.

Jesus says that whoever listens to His words and does what He says will be like the wise man who built his house on the rock. Notice that it is not enough to just hear the words, we must obey them.

If you just hear Jesus and do not obey Him it would have been better for you to have not heard. Because without acting on Jesus commands, the life that you build will not have any stability. When the storms of life come your life will fall with a great crash.

Here’s the bottom line: Find Jesus. Listen to His words and put them into practice. Then your life will stand through all the world throws at you. It may not always be easy, but you will make it through.
