Hope to Faith
The Journey from Hope to Faith
They say Faith is the substance
Of things hoped for
But how can I have hope
In this world any more?
Hope is optimistic
Reaching for better times
And all I see is hate
And the loss of lives
People losing hope
All around I can’t see
People bound by fear
Encaged and unfree
But what does it mean?
Faith is believing
In things unseen
So how can I see
What’s not in front of me
I open my eyes daily
And see all the pain
So much loss in the world
Where is the gain
It’s a stain
Like blood on my hands
I can’t remain
No hope
No reason to be
Shame and guilt
Is all that I see
Fallen man
Is that really me
So I ask again
What does it mean?
What is hope anyway?
And where has it gone
I look around and it seems
That Hope doesn’t belong
But is that real?
How can it be true?
If hope doesn’t belong
What’s that mean for me and you?
We need hope
Cause that’s what gets us through
So why can’t I see?
Because my eyes aren’t open
At least spiritually
Focusing on the problem
Will not set me free
So what’s the solution
Where do I need to be?
When it seems no reason
To go on
I feel so weak
Never strong
But from deep inside
Rises a song
A song of a grace
So amazingly clear
And of Love
So amazingly near
God so Loved
That’s what it said
That He allowed His Son
To lay down his head
And with His life
He paid the price
To set the world free
To Hope in what
We can’t see
A vision of new life
That we have in store
A life with Christ
So with that I implore
That you see the hope I’ve found
And God’s got so much more
So what are we waiting for
We are talking about
A hope to Faith journey
It starts with our old life
Left on the gurney
As we find our new hope
In Christ’s story
We know that one day
We’ll be with Him in glory
But until then
That’s where Faith comes in
Faith is being sure of
What we hope for
Then Hebrews 11
Tells us so much more
It is by faith
That we can understand
That this world came
from God’s spoken command
And Abel still speaks
When he died from his brother’s hand
Enoch didn’t see death
When he went to the heavenly land
Noah built an Ark
As he condemned sinful man
And Abraham left home
To a land he couldn’t see
And became the father of faith
An example for you and me
And the stories go on
But what does it mean
These men saw hope
When hope couldn’t be seen
The world was lost and broken
They stepped out to receive
The promise was given
And theyhad to believe
But belief by itself
Will never be enough
Faith is an action word
So that's where it gets tough
Cause faith without works
Will always fall dead
Real Faith is acting
On the hopes we see in our head
So here today
We face much of the same
Our world is lost
And hope has lost its name
Are you ready to count the cost
Cause we have hope to spare
But way too often
We are unwilling to share
What is your hope?
And is Christ involved?
He gives me hope
And a new resolve
To share the reason I believe
And pray for others to receive
That’s how hope is spread
And our actions reveal
That our faith is not dead
