Romans 10:9

Romans 10:9 - That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Confess and believe. This is where our journey with Christ begins. It is a simple start to an amazing life. I made this step many years ago as a child. The exact date is foggy, but I remember the night clearly. I was about 9 or 10.
It was a Saturday. My family and I had just returned home from a Christmas shopping trip with our church. I don’t remember what sparked the conversation, but my step father, John, began sharing with me the path to salvation.
I grew up in what you would more or less call a Christian home. We went to church regularly and reading the Bible was a common occurrence. I knew about Jesus, but this was the night I officially made a commitment to Him. At church the next morning I answered the altar call and confessed Christ in front of our church body.
Since then it has not been easy. There have been highs and lows. To be honest, there have been times when I didn't know how I would continue on. Giving your life to God does not mean it will get easier, in fact, there are times when it will be harder. But through those times you will always have someone to lean on.
Some call Jesus a crutch. I couldn't agree more. There are times when I might even call Him a stretcher, because without Him carrying me there is no way I would have made it through.
So, is following Jesus hard? Yes, but the alternative is even worse. God changed my life for the better and serving Him is definitely worth it. If you choose Him, you will never regret it.

Romans 10:9-10

Romans 10:9-10 - That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with you mouth that you confess and are saved.

In your life you will have many decisions to make. Some are trivial, like what you will wear or what you will eat for lunch. These things have a significance on the moment, but they have little effect on the future.
Then there are the larger, more important decisions. These are the decisions that affect the course and direction of your life and include things like going to college, buying a house, who you will marry and how many kids you will have. When you make these decisions you know that it will change your life. Things will never be the same.
There is only one decision more important than these ones. This decision will not only affect your life here on earth, but will change the course of your eternity. Whom will you serve? Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the only way to heaven. There is no other way. It doesn’t matter how good you are or who you hang out with.
Now this life changing decision is one that you have to make for yourself. Nobody can make it for you. It doesn’t work that way. You have to make a conscience decision whether you will give your life to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Paul lays out the way to salvation very clearly. He says it is not by obeying the law that we are saved, but only by faith and confession. “Confess with your mouth,” He says, “and believe in your heart.” It is as simple as that. There are no other qualifications needed.
God wants you to come just as you are. He accepts you with all of your flaws and bad decisions. If you have not made the choice yet, make it today. Confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. This is the most important decision you will ever make. Don’t let another day pass without Christ in your heart.
